Trexel and Bockatech Join Forces For More Sustainable Packaging

Chemical and physical foaming combined for sustainable packaging
Injection molding company, Trexel, and sustainablity packaging company, Bockatech, have announced a partnership agreement with the goal of using Trexel’s new, more advanced foaming techniques to create more sustainable packaging. Bockatech plans to make the switch from chemical foaming to physical foaming. Using Trexel’s licenced MuCell Physical Foaming Technology, these companies plan to join together in order to increase durability of products while also using less plastic. This technology will allow both companies to improve packaging lifespan, insulation, and strength, without the added expense and environmental impact of having to use more material. Further, this process is significantly more sustainable than existing processes as there are no additives and it is fully reusable and can be recycled.

Plastic News Announces Processor of the Year Finalists
Plastics News has officially announced the top five finalists for the 2021 Processor of the Year award. Congratulations to Comar LLC, MMI Engineered Solutions Inc., Proto Labs Inc., PTI Engineered Plastics Inc., and Teel Plastics LLC. Throughout the pandemic, all of these companies managed to stay open and contribute such a crucial part in helping fight against the coronavirus. They were essential businesses producing protective equipment and vital medical products. Judges for the award considered a variety of factors when selecting nominees, including: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry/public service, and technological innovation. On March 21-23 all five finalists will be honored at the 2022 Executive Forum in Naples, Florida. The winner of the Processor of the Year will be featured in the April 4 Plastics News issue, and the Plastics News Excellence Award winners will be featured in the April 11 issue.
