Procter & Gamble Partners with Rhinostics for New Injection Molded PP COVID-19 Nasal Swab
Procter & Gamble (P&G) has partnered with Rhinostics Inc. to develop a new polypropylene (PP) nasal swab for COVID-19 testing. The new swab provides up to 30 times greater sample concentration versus other swabs used in the front of the nose. The new swab provides additional supplies for COVID-19 testing, reducing supply shortages, and provides a more comfortable testing experience. Fully injection molding nasal swab reduces handling and lab processing time leading to an increase in manufacturing capacity.
P&G subsidiary iMFLUX created the swab and is licensing it to Rhinostics for manufacturing and disbursement. Rhinostics plans to seek Emergency Use Authorization for home collection rPT-PCR testing for COVID-19 testing and could be expanded in the future for other testing needs, like influenza, as well. You can see an image of the swab and read more about it here.
