Carmo Designs Single-Piece Molded Medical Valve
Danish injection molding company Carmo A/S has begun producing a new, single-piece valve for medical tubing that is the first of its kind. The unique design means that production of the valve is significantly easier, cutting down on both production time and costs. Additionally, the ease of production reduces the chances of production-side errors, improving patient safety. Conventional valves are typically made from multiple parts and use non-biodegradable silicone. Carmo’s valves eliminate the use of silicone and their jointless construction significantly reduces the risk of leakage. Learn more here.

Innovative Injection Molded Goggles Win ISPO Award 2022
Innovative Injection Molded Goggles Win ISPO Award 2022
Injection molding (IM) is a process that is used in several industries including the medical, automotive, and electronics industries. Thanks to IM's diverse set of applications, it is also being used in the sports apparel industry. Californian sports equipment firm 100Percent recently won the ISPO award for their "Norg" sports goggles which are manufactured using an injection molding process. Thanks to their injection molded lens design, the goggles are highly impact resistant and they offer enhanced optical performance. The goggles have a magnetic lens feature which allows the user to detach and switch lenses, in this design the lens or glass embraces the frame making unintentional detachments of the lens nearly impossible. This specific design also makes it so that the structural integrity relies more on the highly break resistant injection molded lens than on the frame. 100Percent continues to innovate in the lens category.
