DuPont and Novares Collaborating on Hybrid Metal-Plastic Cooling Plate for EV Batteries
DuPont Mobility & Materials and Tier 1 Novares are collaborating on a new metal-plastic hybrid cooling plate that will extend the range and longevity of electric vehicle batteries. DuPont’s patented plastic/metal bonding technology is a key to the success of this project. Initially, this technology was designed to replace traditional metal EV cooling plates with hybrid designs, that are better able to manage battery temperatures. Novares has confirmed that the new plates meet all industry requirements and are more cost-effective when compared with their pure metal counterparts. DuPont’s Zytel HTN high-temperature nylon is a key component of these hybrid plates and is able to withstand high temperatures and aggressive chemicals. Those attending the K 2022 show can learn about this new technology in hall 6, stand C43. Learn more here.

DuPont and Novares Collaborating on Hybrid Metal-Plastic Cooling Plate for EV Batteries
Through their new “ECO programme”, German manufacturing company Igus is offering four new materials made from recycled plastic. The company produces many different components and materials with a focus on moving parts. These new recycled plastics, ECO H, ECO P ECO A180, and ECO G, are all made from regranulated tribo-plastics. These polymers boast high durability, a lighter weight, and the marked advantage of not requiring regular lubrication, making them ideal materials for parts such as ball bearings, energy chains, and many more. Due to the tribo-polymer’s abrasion resistant quality, parts made from these materials give off significantly fewer microplastics. Read more here.
